In memory of Abuela Toña

I was about to start writing a post about how great my visit to Washington DC had been going when something more important came up… so this post will be short and bitter.

After a surprising apparition of cancer a few weeks back and a short and painful battle against it, my grandmother (dad’s mom) passed away this past Saturday, July 18, 2009, at 6:02 AM. She was 85 years of age.

Wife, daughter, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother. Teacher, cook, advisor. Loving and lovable. Great sense of humor. Always trying to make everyone happy, one way or the other. A great example to everyone who ever met her or was touched by her life.

Te amo, abuela Toña. Te extrañaremos pero jamás te olvidaremos. Gracias por ser parte de nuestras vidas. Vete tranquila, que nosotros cuidaremos de abuelo. Descansa en paz.

RIP Abuela Toña, I’m sure she is making everyone happy in heaven and baking cupcakes like all grandmas “alcahuetas” do :)

Remember, celebrate her life, and remember all the good times with her.
