I accept your challenge

This message goes out to my friend Jearlene: I accept your challenge of losing weight. I know the challenge is actually you against yourself but I will do it alongside you. What better motivation than a friend who needs to do the same thing you have to do?
Jearlene started her blog today as a motivation to lose weight. She wants to lose 30-40 pounds, around the same amount I want to lose. We will be dieting and exercising. I don’t know about her, but I sure as hell won’t be using any kind of pills to “help” out.
My goal is 230 pounds. I am ashamed to say that the last time I weighed myself I was tipping the scale at 280 pounds (my friends say I don’t look like I’m so heavy, but the scales don’t lie, do they?). I might have gained some weight after that though.
The time alotted to losing this weight, for me, is 8-12 months; but the quicker, the better. Of course, I’m not gonna do stupid things. I’ll do it as healthy as I can. I have a gym membership, so I’ll be doing all cardio exercises I can. Running, Zumba, spinning, steps, whatever. I know I’m going to participate in what’s called World’s Best 10K, a race that occurs here in Puerto Rico every February/March. I participated in it last year, not to race against other people, but to challenge myself. Some people said I was going to be doing that and wouldn’t be able to finish… but they were wrong. Well, anyways, I’ll leave that for another post.
Jearlene: I accept your challenge and will be here beside you on your weight loss journey.
